n8n is self-hosted (no per-task fees), has native AI agent nodes, supports complex branching, and integrates directly with vector databases like Pinecone and Weaviate. For AI-heavy workflows at volume, it's significantly more cost-effective.
Do we need our own server to run n8n?
You can use n8n Cloud (managed) or self-host on any VPS, AWS EC2, or Docker environment. We handle the infrastructure setup as part of our implementation.
Can n8n replace a custom-built automation backend?
For most SMB and mid-market use cases, yes. n8n handles scheduling, webhooks, error handling, and retries natively. We only recommend custom backends when you need sub-100ms latency or very high concurrency.
